How to Spend the Hundred Million Facebook Dollars in Newark New Jersey in Three Steps.
1) Break ground on a facility that is unlike any other “community center,” ever built. Have some young and hungry African American architect design it. When it begins to rise, the world will be watching and when it’s finished it will be stunning and worthy of a visit from any and all dignitaries, including Oprah Winfrey herself. How it is different is that each floor and each room is designed for a different life subject to learn. The “classes” which are free, will include titles like “How to be a good Mom,” “How to be a good Dad,” “How to be a mentor,” “How to be a teacher,” “How to Be a friend,” “How to be a productive human,” How to feel like a Winner,” etc. Marriage will be taught, careers, trades, home economics like you’ve never seen it. The reputation of the institution will grow and this will be seen by those interested in the productive growth of American cities most touched by poverty and crime. Success with this stage, will warrant more donations.
2) A degree needs to be instituted in colleges and universities in and around Newark and other cities like it. The degree can be attained as an undergraduate and or a graduate student. It’s a BS or MS in Mentoring. A person with a degree in mentoring can get a job teaching at this new state-of-the-art facility in Newark. You can be white, black, old or young but you must have this degree. You will be weeded out and you will be the best of the best people for this job and you will be paid for it.
3) When the staff is hired to implement the building of the structure and the hiring of mentors, not to mention the red tape involved in creating a new degree at established universities, some key points need to be addressed: Are the people who want this job doing it for the right reasons? There are many examples of what this might look like, a person who is willing to give of him/herself to improve their own beings, their own society, all by improving other’s lives. But the truly right people have to be hired. So the truly right people need to be in charge of hiring and choosing the top shelf mentors. Put all this into the works, bake for ten to twenty years and you’re going to see better family structure and less killing.
